The York College/ Community Commemorative Quilt Committee (YC/CCQC), established in 1998, is a volunteer community service organization. Since its inception, the Committee has actively supported projects that have greatly contributed to the collaborative relationship between York College and the members of the Southeast Queens communities. These initiatives include ongoing fundraising activities in the support of the York College Endowment Fund, benefiting various community outreach projects and student scholarships to York College.
Value Of Scholarship:
Awards of $1000 each: ($500 for Fall and Spring semester, if eligibility maintains).
General Eligibility Criteria:
High school senior, high school graduate (including GED), entering transfer or full-time York College matriculated student.
Satisfactory academic record.
Documented community service.
Interview will be held in July, 2009.
Shirley Turner Scholarship
Preference for a scholarship recipient who has demonstrated qualities of endurance or perseverance in overcoming physical or other handicaps.
Chaka Chinyelu Scholarship
Preference for a Black male with a GPA of 2.75 or above.
High school average of 75.
Estella Williams Music and Academic Excellence Scholarship
Preference for a scholarship recipient with a demonstrated musical interest and ability.
Recommendation from an appropriate resource in the field of Music.
GPA of 3.0 or above.
High school average of 80.
Mildred Cooper Scholarship for Academic Excellence
Preference for scholarship recipient with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
High school average of 80.
YC/CCQC Scholarship for the Creative Arts and Academic Excellence
Preference for scholarship recipient with an interest in the Creative Arts (including quilting).
GPA of 3.0 or above.
High school average of 80.
